Council of Mayors to finalize report for Congress

Buenos Aires, Dec 9 (NA) – The Council of Mayors will meet this Tuesday in the Hall of Shields of the Ministry of the Interior to finalize the details of its final report, which will be sent to the National Congress.

The meeting, scheduled for 13:30, will be coordinated by the Chief of Cabinet, Manuel Adorni. The Council of Mayors has met once a month since June with the objective of turning the ten points of the May Pact, signed in Tucumán, into law projects.

According to sources consulted by the Argentine News Agency, the final format in which the summary of the debate will be presented has not yet been defined. However, the libertarian administration seeks to formalize the conclusions that will include the positions of all sectors, including dissents.

Two points of the May Pact, the discussion on the distribution of shared funds and pension reform (items 5 and 9), due to their complexity, will be postponed for later treatment.

With the official call for extraordinary sessions (from December 10 to 30), the Casa Rosada is accelerating the pace to approve during the summer:

The 2026 Budget.

Labor and Criminal Code reforms.

The Glaciers Law.

An initiative that seeks to 'shield' fiscal balance and prohibit laws that generate deficits.

Nevertheless, an official close to the drafting of the projects clarified to NA that the content of the Council of Mayors' report will not be 'necessarily' identical to what will be included in the extraordinary sessions, although there are shared topics.

Who participates in the last meeting of the year

Tuesday's meeting will be the last of 2025 and will bring together representatives of the different branches of power and social sectors:

Executive Branch: Federico Sturzenegger (Minister of Deregulation).

Provinces: Alfredo Cornejo (Governor of Mendoza).

Legislative Branch: Carolina Losada (national senator, UCR) and Cristian Ritondo (national deputy, PRO).

Unions and Business: Gerardo Martínez (CGT) and Martín Rappallini (president of the UIA).
